Italian Embassy Endorsement
INS Sustainability Declaration Endorsement
(Italian Embassy & Notary Public)
For organisations certified under the National Italian System for Sustainability of the Biofuel Supply Chain (INS), compliance does not end with certification alone. One of the critical regulatory requirements under INS is the official endorsement of the Sustainability Declaration by recognised legal authorities.
This endorsement process requires the Sustainability Declaration to be validated by a Notary Public and subsequently endorsed by the Italian Embassy or Consulate, depending on the country of origin of the organisation.
Without this endorsement, the Sustainability Declaration may not be accepted for use within the Italian regulatory system, even if the organisation is already INS certified.
What is INS Sustainability Declaration Endorsement?
INS Sustainability Declaration Endorsement refers to the formal legal validation process of the sustainability declaration document required under the INS scheme.
The process involves two main steps:
- Notary Public Endorsement
The Sustainability Declaration is first verified and notarised by a licensed Notary Public to confirm: - Authenticity of the document
- Identity and authority of the signatory
- Legal validity of the declaration
- Italian Embassy / Consulate Endorsement
The notarised document is then submitted to the Italian Embassy or Italian Consulate for official endorsement, confirming that the document is legally recognised for use in the Italian regulatory system.
This process is commonly required for foreign organisations supplying biofuels or feedstocks into Italy under the INS framework.
Why This Endorsement is Mandatory?
Under the INS system, the Sustainability Declaration serves as a legal assurance document that supports:
- Sustainability claims
- Traceability declarations
- Regulatory reporting into the Italian system
Without proper embassy and notary endorsement, organisations may face:
- Rejection of sustainability documentation
- Delays in transaction processing
- Non-acceptance of materials in the Italian market
- Regulatory non-compliance risks
In practice, this endorsement is not a formality — it is a regulatory necessity.
